UCLan Cyprus is hosting the 3rd IEEE International Symposium on Emerging Metaverse (ISEMV 2026). IEEE Hive is a one-day hands-on innovation sprint designed for students and early-career professionals from any engineering, computing or technical discipline. The theme is:  Metaverse for Humanity: Intelligent Virtual Worlds for Industry, Health, and Society.

IEEE Hive @ ISEMV 2026
IEEE Hive is an immersive, fully interactive program built around a project-based learning innovation sprint. It is designed for undergraduate students and early-career professionals from all engineering disciplines. The program focuses on developing the professional skills that technical education leaves out, including collaboration, communication and systems thinking.

Event Overview

Immersive technology is arriving faster than the frameworks for deciding who it serves and who it excludes. Participants will work in cross-disciplinary teams on a real design challenge drawn from the symposium theme, develop a concept, and pitch it to a panel of judges by the end of the session. Executing it requires teams to define who they are designing for, frame the problem before reaching for a solution, weigh the ethical and accessibility implications of an immersive system, and communicate their thinking to people who weren't in the room when it was conceived.

No prior experience with metaverse technologies is required. Teams are built to be cross-disciplinary by design.

What to Expect at IEEE Hive
