Project Description
The DWELL project addresses the impact of digital technologies on students' social, physical, cognitive and emotional health, aiming to enhance digital well-being in European educational settings. It equips educators, parents, and stakeholders with tools to promote healthy digital habits through five interconnected phases: research, framework development, capacity building, policy recommendations, and dissemination.
- The research phase includes meta-research and a literature review on the impact of digital technologies on young people, adapting the SELFIE tool to assess digital well-being practices in schools, promoting the project through school visits and parent meetings, and conducting focus groups with educators and parents to gather data on digital technology concerns in learning.
- A detailed framework for digital well-being will then be developed through iterative processes and consultations. This framework targets both educators and parents. For educators, it offers essential level of competences to address all areas of interest and master level to act as ambassadors of digital well-being. For parents, the framework provides competences for supporting and guiding their children and identifying early warning signs of digital-related issues.
- Capacity-building activities include developing training programs and resources for educators and parents, based on the framework, to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- The project will create evidence-based policy recommendations from the pilot implementations to guide the integration of digital well-being into educational policies.
- Dissemination and networking activities will ensure the project's findings and outputs reach a wide audience, promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration.
This comprehensive approach addresses significant gaps and challenges identified through preliminary research and aims to foster a healthier digital environment for students and educators across Europe.
