As leading IT qualification body, the CCS delivers a number of established education and certification programs in all areas of Computer Science and IT ranging from basic e-skills learning for end-users, individuals and students to professional training for IT practitioners and instructors.
ICDL Certification
The ICDL is the capstone of the Cyprus Computer Society that works with more than 200 Testing Centres on program management in order to serve thousands of students all over Cyprus. The ICDL is an internationally-recognized standard of competence, a widely acceptable certificate that asserts that the holder has the knowledge and skills needed to use the most common computer applications efficiently and productively in the workplace and at home. ICDL courses and exams are taken through the network of Test Centres across Cyprus. For more information visit: https://icdl.org/
ICDL Base is a group of modules whose skills covered comprise the individual’s digital literacy. It consists of four modules that cover key ICT skills and knowledge areas and are mandatory for all candidates. These four essential modules are:
- Computer Essentials - essential knowledge and skills relating to the use of computers and devices. This module replaces the ICDL Core Modules 1 and 2 and includes new content.
- Online Essentials - knowledge and skills underpinning the use of the Internet to identify and retrieve information, to engage in online activities, and to communicate effectively. This module replaces the ICDL Core Module 7 and includes new content.
- Word Processing - skills related to working with text in a word processing application. There is no change in the content/syllabus of this module.
- Spreadsheets - skills related to working with numbers in a spreadsheet application. There is no change in the content/syllabus of this module.
ICDL Standard is the 7-module certification that comprises of four essential modules of ICDL Base (which certifies an individual’s digital literacy), plus three additional modules to develop and certify an individual’s digital competence. In keeping with the established global standard, this certification retains its 7-module structure but allows candidates to choose modules that reflect their own needs.

The ICDL Certified Training Professional (CTP) is an international qualification in IT training and certifies the abilities of IT Trainers to deliver high-level quality training in computing. Despite the rigorous application of international standards on all aspects of administering the ICDL, there had, until the development of CTP, been little control over the provision of classroom-based training by individual trainers and training organisations. As one of the Foundation's non-end-user certification, CTP provides trainers and training organisations with an objective quality standard against which their own training services can be measured.
The Robotics module covers the main concepts and skills needed to assemble, programme, and control a simple robot. Robots are not only found in science fiction. Programmable mechanical devices are increasingly used to automate common tasks; for example, in factories and distribution centres. People will interact more and more with these devices in different environments such as home, school, or healthcare. Early exposure to this technology will help to explain their use as well as open paths to future learning and more specialised skills development.
Given the rapid development of information technology and the expansion of the use of computers in almost every aspect of our daily lives, the need arose for teaching and assessment/certification programs even for the youngest ages, in order to ensure the gradual and smooth introduction of children in new technologies.
The exam is aimed at children who attend primary school, in grades 3, 4 and 5 and begin to develop their knowledge and skills in computer subjects. The e-KIDS test will be a standard system for assessing computer skills for children of this age.
With the rapid development of Information Technology and the expansive use of computers in almost every aspect of our daily lives, the need for teaching and assessing/certifying younger aged students was identified. This will ensure the gradual and smooth introduction of children in new technologies. The test addresses children attending the 3rd, 4th and 5th primary school grades which begin to develop their knowledge and skills in computer topics. The e-KIDS certification is a standard system for accessing computer skills for children of this age.
