The Cyprus National WRO (World Robot Olympiad) will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the European University Cyprus.

WRO Cyprus is organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, in collaboration with STEM Education Hellas and IET Cyprus. The event is supported by ECOMMBX as a Powered by sponsor and XM as a Tech Partner, and is hosted by the European University Cyprus.

The competition is open to primary and secondary school students, who are invited to design, build, and program robots to solve challenges on the competition fields, according to their age category and the global annual theme.

The WRO® Theme for 2025 is “The Future of Robots”. Teams will explore the role of robotics in addressing global challenges and improving our lives – from robots shaping the cities of the future and exploring space, to AI-powered robots influencing every aspect of our daily lives. Within this framework, participants are called to imagine and design solutions for a better tomorrow.

The winning teams in each category will represent Cyprus at the WRO International Final, which will take place in Singapore, from 26 to 28 November 2025.

!IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2025 – A NEW APPROACH!

Starting this year, the event is becoming more open, more accessible and more innovative, with the following key changes:

●    Open Platforms
In addition to LEGO platforms, participants may now use any robotics platform (e.g., Kypruino, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Makeblock, etc.).In addition to LEGO platforms, participants may now use any robotics platform (e.g., Kypruino, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Makeblock, etc.).
●    Simple Procedure
There is no requirement for disassembly and reassembly of robots on-site. Teams will bring their robots fully assembled and pre-programmed.
●    Surprise Rule
A "surprise rule" will be introduced shortly before the competition starts. Teams will be given limited time to adjust their robot’s programming to meet this additional challenge.
