Students from Aradippou High School represented Cyprus in the World Robotics Olympiad WRO which took place online on November 18-21, 2021.
The WRO brings together children and young people from around the world to help them develop their creativity and problem-solving skills by participating in challenging and creative educational robotics competitions.
Cyprus team consisted of the students: George Charalambous, Andreas Poulis and Zannettos Efthimiou with Mr George Petrou as their coach. The young robotists designed, built and programmed a robot that took part in this year's "PowerBots - The Future of Energy" field challenges.
This team had won first place in the Gymnasium Category of the corresponding national competition organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with WRO Hellas and co-organized by the IET Cyprus Local Network, in early October, at Agios Ioannis Gymnasium in Lakatamia.
Like all CCS competitions, WRO Cyprus was implemented with the valuable contribution of members, volunteers and judges representing all the private universities in the country, namely the European University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, the University of Frederick, the University of Neapolis and Uclan Cyprus.
CCS congratulates the students of Aradippou Gymnasium for their participation and hopes that the epidemiological conditions will allow them to participate in the next national and international robotic events with a physical presence.
