The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth organizes preparation courses for talented students who are interested in participating in the Pan-Cypriot Informatics Olympiad (CyOI).

 

The programming courses are offered free of charge, every week, in every province, by teachers appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with CCS, as follows:

The courses may be attended by Secondary Education students who have excellent knowledge of Programming (C++, Python) or have algorithmic thinking skills (for Gymnasium Students who do not have programming skills).

 

The Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics aims to select the official representatives of Cyprus, in respective international competitions such as the International and Balkan Olympiad in Informatics . It is noted that we expect every year not whether we will receive medals but which medals our Cypriot representatives will win in such events!

 

Specifically this year, Cyprus won a bronze medal and two commendations at the International Olypmpiad in Informatics (IOI 2022) held in August in Indonesia and a bronze medal at the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BJOI 2022) held in Romania between 28/8 and 3/9 .

The European Junior Olympiad in Informatics  (EJOI 2022) will take place online next week and and Cyprus will be represented by: Antonis Papaevripides, Orestis Souzou, Vangelis Kyriakou and Polykarpos Christodoulou. Next month, the Balkan Informatics Olympiad (BOI 2022) will take place in Romania where Theofanis Orfanou, Dimitris Chrysostomou, Panagiotis Hadjicostas, Kyriakos Tsiannis will travel with their teachers Mr Antonios Georgiou and Markos Kalavas. For the current school year, the First Round of the Olympiad will take place in January 2023 and the relevant announcement of the competition will be posted on the competition’s website: https://www.coinformatics.org.
