The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, is pleased to announce the Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics 2025–2026, addressed to secondary education students from across Cyprus.

OFFICIAL ANOUNCEMENT

The first round of the student programming competition will be held online, from December 23, 2025 to January 7, 2026. Participants are expected to be comfortable using a computer and have working knowledge of C++ or Python.

Detailed information regarding participation terms, preliminary problems, and registration procedures is available on the official competition website www.coinformatics.org. Registrations will remain open until Friday, December 19, 2025.

The Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics aims to select the official national teams that will represent Cyprus in major international competitions, such as the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI). It is also noted that Cyprus recently and successfully hosted the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (jBOI), which took place last October in Larnaca.

Cyprus has a long-standing record of strong performances in international informatics competitions, earning significant distinctions and medals. Notably, in 2025 alone, the Cypriot teams achieved a total of eight medals and one honorable mention across five international Olympiads in Informatics, continuing the country’s tradition of excellence and high achievement. Special recognition is given to student Mariza Paspalli, who, among other accomplishments, won a gold medal at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI). Her success serves as an inspiration and encouragement for more girls to participate in this year’s Olympiad. One of CCS’s strategic objectives is to increase female participation in informatics competitions, thereby strengthening the presence of women in technology-related fields, both now and in the future.

The Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics 2025–2026 is empowered by ECOMMBX and supported by XM, Oracle Academy, and ICDL. In addition, free preparatory programming courses are offered in all districts of Cyprus, delivered by secondary education teachers, to support students in their preparation.
