The Cypriot delegation achieved a significant international success at the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Asia Pacific Open Championship, held from 9 to 12 July in Sydney, Australia.

The ROBOTHEADZ team, mentored by Dr. Pericles Cheng of STEM Education Cyprus, proudly represented Cyprus and was honored with the prestigious Rising All-Star Award, competing against 55 teams and more than 500 participants from around the world.

The Rising All-Star Award recognizes a team that demonstrates outstanding potential, continuous improvement, exceptional collaboration, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to the core values of FIRST®—innovation, respect, teamwork, and discovery.

The Cypriot delegation consisted of the following students: Alexandr Grigoriev, Ariadni Tsapsidou, Vasiliki-Lydia Papadopoulou, Georgia Achilleos, Giorgos Ioulianou, Ioannis Ioannou, Melanie Cheng, Panagiotis Ioulianou, Sofia Papadopoulou, and Stefanos Metaxas.

The ROBOTHEADZ team secured its place at the Asia Pacific Open Championship after winning the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Cyprus 2026, organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) last March in Nicosia.

The Cypriot team's participation in Australia was made possible through the support of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), as well as the mission's sponsors and supporters. The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) warmly congratulates all team members, their mentor, and everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement.

This international distinction is yet another testament to the high caliber of Cyprus' young talent in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and is expected to inspire even more young people to engage with robotics and innovation.

The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) will soon announce the theme of the new FIRST® LEGO® League 2026–2027 season, together with the schedule of its remaining competitions and activities for the upcoming school year.
