The event "Creating Synergies: Advancing Gender Diversity and Inclusion in Information and Communication Technology" was successfully held on May 7, 2025, at the ICT Academy of the Office of the Communications Commissioner by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner of Communications - Digital Security Authority as the designated National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCC-CY).

The event aimed to highlight actions and create synergies to enhance gender equality and participation in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), bringing together organizations, institutions, and women's networks active in the field in Cyprus.

The programme included welcome notes by the Commissioner for Communications, Mr George Michaelides, and the Vice-President of the CCS, Mr Andreas Loutsios. Mr Michaelides stressed the need for greater participation of women in the field of IT and, more specifically, cybersecurity. Women can contribute a lot to these fields, as the way the two genders approach problems can help tackle challenges in a more holistic way. Mr. Loutsios noted that CCS, through the implementation of the CCS-Women team, actively supports the need for women's inclusion. He also pointed out the importance of cooperation between organizations so that the actions implemented reach even more people.

This was followed by a presentation of the CCS-Women initiative for the empowerment of women in ICT and presentations by the following women networks active in Cyprus: ACM Women Cyprus Chapter, Girls in STEAM Academy, Women in Tech® Cyprus, Women Tech Makers Cyprus – Greece, Women4Cyber Cyprus, and Young BPW.

During the roundtable discussion on "The Vision of CCS-Women – Creating synergies...", the need for joint action and cooperation was identified, with the aim of creating a more inclusive ecosystem in the ICT sector, where every individual – regardless of gender – will have equal opportunities for participation, training, and development. At the same time, all existing networks expressed their willingness to work even more closely together to achieve the goal of higher participation rates and equal opportunities for women in technology.
