The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth organizes the Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics 23-24, for Secondary Education students.

The first round of the student programming competition will be held online from 22/12/2023 to 8/1/2024. Contestants should be computer literate and have knowledge of the C++ or Python programming language.

Information, participation terms, preliminary problems, and registration details can be found on the competition’s website: https://www.coinformatics.org. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

The competition aims to select the official representatives of Cyprus for international competitions such as the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, where Cypriot participants consistently return with medals each year.

Specifically, in 2023, Cyprus achieved:

  • One silver medal (Theofanis Orfanou) and one honorable mention (Dimitris Chrysostomou) at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI - Hungary, September 2023)
  • One silver (Theofanis Orfanou) and one bronze (Dimitris Chrysostomou) medal in the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI- Romania, October 2023)
  • One bronze medal (Mariza Paspalli) at the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI – online, November 2023)

We celebrate Mariza's recent achievements and aspire for more young girls to follow her path. CCS is committed to boosting the involvement of girls in their activities, with the ultimate goal of fostering a greater presence of women in technology-related professions in the years to come.

The Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics 23-24 is supported by XM, Oracle Academy and ICDL. Free preparatory lessons for students are provided in every district by Secondary Education teachers.
