The Cyprus Computer Society, Huawei and All Digital have jointly organized the 1st European Coding Challenge with the use of HMS Platform in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The Challenge was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus, Kyriakos Kokkinos, the President of the Cyprus Computer Society Costas Agrotis, Peter Palvolgyi, CEO of All Digital and Marco Xu, Public Affairs Director, CEE and Nordic Region, Huawei Europe. All speakers stressed the importance of developing and promoting technology as they have now become an integral part of our daily lives.
Marco Xu underlined that "Huawei encourages the further growth of an ecosystem of applications based on Huawei Mobile Services. The 1st European Coding Challenge, being held in cooperation with our partners, shows that there is a lot of coding know-how in Cyprus".
Elena Strouthou from Cocoon Creations as an invited speaker presented to the participants her own coding journey which saw her being a software engineer, a scientist, an entrepreneur and a volunteer.
During the 1st European Coding Challenge two trainers from Huawei Mobile Services guided the participants through the practical process of creating mobile apps and the various features offered on HMS. The second part of the workshop featured a session where all participants created a simple app which they also tested.
The 1st European Coding Challenge was supported by the Youth Board of Cyprus and the Young Entrepreneurs Organization of the European Union (JEUNE).
