My role is the Head of QA (Quality Assurance) at Playtech Sports. I specialize in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our product, which is Sports Betting Platforms. My expertise lies in quality control, process optimization, team leadership, and implementing innovative testing strategies to deliver exceptional results.

Inspiration
What sparked your interest in this technology field and what path led you here?

My interest in the field of Quality Assurance was sparked by an unexpected but transformative challenge from my current manager. As a developer, I was focused on creating code and building software solutions, but when I decided to move forward with something different, my manager encouraged me to broaden my perspective and explore a career in QA. Initially, it felt like a daunting shift, but I soon realized the unique opportunities QA offered—being at the crossroads of ensuring quality, advocating for the user experience, and collaborating across teams. The transition required me to develop new skills, such as critical thinking, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. It pushed me to understand the software development lifecycle from a completely new angle and appreciate the importance of delivering a product that's reliable, efficient, and user-focused. This change has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally while contributing to projects in a meaningful way. 

Career Growth
What skills and strategies have helped you succeed in tech?

I strongly believe that in any field, there is a combination of both technical and soft skills, as well as strategic approaches that help you succeed. In my field, Attention to Detail is essential for identifying even the most subtle inconsistencies or flaws. Equally important are Strong Communication Skills, which means you have to know how to articulate feedback constructively and collaborate with teams to drive improvements. Also, Commitment to Continuous Learning to stay up to date with industry trends, and the Adaptability to changes and new challenges are some of the principles which have been instrumental in my professional growth and success.

Memorable Achievements
Share a project or moment that reflects the impact of your work.

One of the most challenging moments in my career was assuming leadership over multiple cross-location Quality Assurance teams following a company restructuring. This transition required a strategic approach to unite teams, streamline QA processes, enhance automation, and—above all—reinforce the importance of team synergy, innovation, and adaptability within the newly established framework. During a period of high workload driven by an expanding customer base, ensuring operational efficiency and alignment was paramount. Through cross-functional collaboration, we successfully optimized test automation, refined defect tracking mechanisms, and cultivated a culture of continuous improvement. As a result, we achieved a significant reduction in production issues, enhanced deployment efficiency, and strengthened stakeholder confidence in our QA methodologies and overall product quality.

How do you stay ahead in a competitive field, and what obstacles have you overcome?

In a traditionally male-dominated industry, I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by highly intelligent professionals who actively share knowledge, support women at every stage, and contribute to collective success. Throughout my journey, I have prioritized strong communication and collaboration to foster a results-driven environment where teamwork leads to continuous improvement. I have encountered obstacles, including breaking stereotypes and establishing credibility in women leadership. By demonstrating professionalism and an unwavering commitment to excellence, I have earned the trust of teams and stakeholders. 

Work-Life Balance
How do you manage the demands of career and personal life?

Balancing the demands of career and personal life while being a mom of two teens and the head of a department is no small feat, but it’s achievable with thoughtful strategies such as: Prioritization and Planning - I always try to identify what truly matters and prioritize accordingly using calendars or to-do lists for efficiency. It’s also crucial to prioritize Self-Care and have some time for myself - whether that’s exercising, relaxing, or enjoying hobbies - to recharge and maintain mental well-being. Flexibility also plays an important role in work-life balance, as life comes with unexpected changes, embracing flexibility and adapting quickly can reduce stress and keep things moving smoothly and having flexible schedules is a motivation to achieve my goals.

How do you envision the future of technology and what role can gender diversity and inclusion play?

As industries embrace digital transformation, the future of technology fosters rapid innovation, advancements in AI, Automation, Cybersecurity and Sustainable Tech Solutions. The adaptability and ethical decision-making will be more critical than ever in the near future. Gender diversity and inclusion play an instrumental role in shaping a more dynamic and innovative tech industry. Based on experience, when diverse perspectives come together, companies develop more comprehensive solutions, have stronger problem-solving capabilities, and a broader understanding of user needs due to increased talent pool and positive workplace culture which makes all employees feel valued and empowered.
