Expertise
What is your role, job title, and field of expertise?

I am Georgia Solomou, Managing Partner OSPHERA and Founder & President Women4Cyber Cyprus. I have20 years experience in IT sector & for the last 5 years concentrated on strategic consultancy focused on cybersecurity and digital transformation.

Inspiration
What sparked your interest in this technology field and what path led you here?

My passion for technology was sparked early on by the constant evolution of the IT landscape. Over the years, I developed a keen interest in the growing importance of cybersecurity, as a fundamental enabler of trust in our digital world. This realization, combined with a desire to make a meaningful impact, led me to pivot into cybersecurity consultancy, where I’ve spent the last five years helping organizations navigate risk, resilience, and compliance in an increasingly complex threat environment.

Career Growth
What skills and strategies have helped you succeed in this field?

Throughout my career, adaptability and continuous learning have been key. The tech field evolves rapidly, and staying informed while embracing change has helped me remain ahead of the curve. In cybersecurity, strategic thinking, clear communication, and the ability to translate complex technical risks into business-relevant insights have been essential to my success.
One of the most impactful strategies in my journey has been building and nurturing strong professional networks. These relationships have opened doors to collaboration, innovation, and mutual growth. I’ve also placed a strong emphasis on mentorship and inclusion—especially through my work with Women4Cyber Cyprus—to ensure that others, particularly women, are empowered to thrive in this field.
Throughout my career, I have worked hard not just to succeed personally, but to use my platform to inspire others — especially young girls — to dream big and step boldly into the world of cybersecurity. I want them to know that they belong here, that their voices matter, and that their contributions are not only valuable but vital.

Memorable Achievements
Share a project or moment that reflects the impact of your work.

Proud to be a woman breaking barriers in cybersecurity. As Managing Partner at OSPHERA, I lead our mission to help organizations & governments fight fraud with tailored solutions. One of my great achievements through my journey is our business expansion into the Middle East & Africa—proving that passion, not gender, defines leadership.

Another proud moment for me is founding Women4Cyber Cyprus, where I now serve as President. This initiative was born from a vision to connect, support, and uplift women professionals in cybersecurity. Today, I lead a dynamic team of talented and driven women who are reshaping the narrative and proving that excellence in cybersecurity knows no gender.

Challenges
How do you stay ahead in a competitive field, and what obstacles have you overcome?

Staying ahead in such a complex and fast-changing field requires continuous learning. It’s what allows me to adapt, grow, and stay relevant in the face of constant technological and business shifts.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, especially in leadership and cybersecurity, I’ve often felt the need to continually prove my value and competence. This can be both motivating and exhausting. Interestingly, despite working in regions like the Middle East, which are traditionally viewed as male-dominated, I’ve experienced strong support from both men and women there—something that, unfortunately, is often lacking in parts of Europe, and especially in Cyprus.
This highlights a deeper cultural challenge we must address through education, societal values, and systemic change. Equal opportunity shouldn’t be conditional or selective. Women have consistently shown they can lead—and lead well—across sectors like politics, medicine, education, and information technology. It’s time we fully recognize and support that leadership.

Work-Life Balance
How do you manage the demands of career and personal life?

Balancing a demanding career with personal life is never easy—especially when frequent travel is involved. For me, it all comes down to good time management and self-discipline. Leadership brings great responsibility, and managing that requires focus and resilience. But just as important is having people around you who truly understand and support you.
I’m incredibly grateful to have that support from my family. I owe much of my success and career growth to my husband, my children, and my mother. Their encouragement and belief in me have made all the difference. I truly believe that when you have faith, vision, and the right people by your side, you can achieve so much more than you ever imagined.

Personal motive
What’s your personal motto or favourite quote that can also inspire the younger generation to follow studies and a career in an ICT field?

My quote is “My journey in cybersecurity has been filled with challenges. As a woman in a male-dominated field, I’ve learned that real leadership isn’t defined by gender — it’s defined by passion, resilience, and the drive to make a difference. I’m here to break barriers, lift others, and prove that passion, not gender, defines leadership”.

Future
How do you envision the future of technology and what role can gender diversity and inclusion play?

The future of technology will be defined not just by innovation, but by how it serves people and society. As AI, cybersecurity, and digital ecosystems evolve, we need ethical frameworks, inclusive design, and diverse leadership to guide them. Gender diversity will play a crucial role in ensuring that the technologies we build reflect the needs and realities of everyone, not just a narrow demographic.  The next generation of leaders will come from today's classrooms. That’s why we need to embed STEM education, digital skills, and gender equality into our education systems. Empowering girls early on with confidence and opportunities in tech will lay the foundation for a more balanced, innovative, and inclusive digital future.
