Expertise
What is your role/job title (company name), and field of expertise?

My role is Vice-Chair of ACM-W Cyprus, and I am also a Tenured Teaching Personnel at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). My field of expertise lies at the intersection of digital media, language learning, and social change. As co-director of the Cyprus Interaction Lab and a senior researcher at CYENS (EDmedia and HCI group), I contribute to advancing research in these areas while also supporting initiatives that encourage women in tech.

Inspiration
What sparked your interest in this technology field and what path led you here?

My interest in technology began during my PhD research, where I explored the intersection of humans and technology. This led me to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), blending my humanities background with tech. The transition was challenging, but the inspiring environment of the Cyprus Interaction Lab together with the networking communities of ACM-W provided invaluable support and mentorship, which empowered me to pursue projects in the field. 

Work-Life Balance
How do you manage the demands of career and personal life?

Balancing career and personal life requires setting clear boundaries, prioritizing tasks, and staying organized. I try to make time for family, recognizing that maintaining a healthy balance is essential for long-term productivity and well-being. 

Personal motive
What’s your motto?

My motto is: "Reward success, celebrate failure, punish inaction." Success is worth celebrating, but failure is a chance to learn. The real setback comes from not trying at all. 

Career Growth
What skills and strategies have helped you succeed in tech?

Adaptability and continuous learning have been key. Mentorship and collaboration with diverse teams helped me grow, while leading projects strengthened my leadership skills.

How do you stay ahead in a competitive field, and what obstacles have you overcome?

I focus on continuous learning, attending conferences, and collaborating in research projects with researchers across the world.
